POTENTIAL MONTHLY MEME SCHEDULE

10th~ of each month: Forbidden Love ("what you can't have" seems to be the most overarching and inclusive of all these memes)
20th of each month: Hurt/Comfort (gen + shipping)

Anything else? This is a work in progress, so leave thoughts in the comments below.

Also:

Memes that should go monthly? Bi-monthly?

Secret/Hidden Love on the DL Relationships/Smut/Love & variants of the Teen/Adolescent/high School romance would be nice to consolidate and restrict to once a week, variants of these get posted all the time

Also Domestic Love/Hidden Domesticity

Bodyguard "shipping" meme, the small/big shipping meme, the anchored ship/calm you down/gruff&sweet combo memes, lord or lady/knight shipping meme/courtly love, and SO MANY MORE.

Like, I don't mind shipping memes, but the posters have to realize that all of these fit the same niche and having six variations of "overused trope with vague prompt about two characters only connecting with each other" is exhausted. At this point I'd call them the heteronormative shipping memes and be done with it.

I'm not going to sit here and claim to be the hero bakerstreet needs, but I have put together some gen or "weird" shipping memes that get used when they go up (60+ comments) but I don't repost them all the time, and that is the key to not pissing people off. I know, scroll if you don't like it, but to the three people who are so thirsty for these memes: there are a lot more of us who would be using a lot more of the posts on the comm if prompts weren't literal clones or clones in a slightly different costume.

And I guess so I don't seem like a Debbie Downer with only negative criticism: shipping memes I wouldn't mind seeing or putting together myself!

The date night meme, with prompts from post apocalyptic camping romance to an uncomfortable slasher movie for two!

The unspoken desire meme, where posters give a brief description of something they or their character would really want (pegging, a back rub, someone making them dinner) but would never ask for. Repliers fill that role.

The bad sex/bad date shipping meme! Maybe someone gets a cramp! Extended family shows up for a small gathering! I think this has been done before?

I'm not coming from a ~feminist standpoint or trying to start gender wank: that's literally what those memes are. The typical emotional flower/strong but stunted trope that is the actual stereotype of romance novels. but sometimes it gets flipped!!!! Because that makes tired and played out roles more interesting, I guess.

If you can't replace the two roles with uke/seme, it doesn't apply. But it does for a painful number of memes.

but why can't a mean be stupid and problematic? romance in that vein sells well because people like it. rpers love it, too.

You are missing my main point, which isn't that "heteronormative" memes are the problem, which I only used to be a sassy example. The problem isn't that the trope itself is problematic or even unfun - I have played it out many times, in many variations. My problem is that it's the SAME meme, posted over and over, with a different name and artsy gif for it.na different example: Once a week would be fine, but when the utterly smitten meme is posted a few hours after the eager to please meme which was posed right after the ~sensuality meme is when I start to see a sea of boring, overplayed beige.

OR, because like I said, this is a problem with all the different shipping memes:

We don't need the romantic tropes meme and the gentle loving smut meme right after each other when the SCHMOOP meme is literally four posts below it. This shit is all over bakerstreet.

what does the sensuality meme have to do with those other ones
